Some of the activities of CFC, such as working to get on the program of professional conferences, have a national scope. Other CFC activities focus on the state level since the regulation of clinical practice, including prescriptive authority, as well as the political, medical, and legal climate, differ significantly from state to state.
In April 2004, the CFC Advisory Committee met to assess the goals, successes, and challenges of CFC since its inception in 1997. They set goals and identified priority activities for the upcoming years.
The following are the three main CFC goals and priority activities relating to each of those goals. Contact the CFC national office if you'd like more information about these activities or are interested in opportunities for working on any of these activities.
Priority Activities:
- Present at professional conferences
- Publish and circulate articles in professional journals
- Present at educational programs
- Serve as mentors to clinicians in training
Priority Activities:
- Maintain CFC membership database
- Create liaisons to partner with sister organizations in reproductive health care
- Increase influence in national professional organizations
Priority Activities:
- Participate in Advanced Practice Clinician Working Group
- Work within professional organizations on scope-of-practice issues
The CFC Advisory Committee members continue to hold quarterly conference calls and attend an annual meeting to develop strategies for reaching the established CFC goals.
