1977   National Abortion Federation is founded following the first national symposium on abortion after Roe v. Wade.
1978   NAF publishes definitive medical guidelines, Standards for Quality Abortion Care.
1979   NAF opens the nation's first toll-free abortion hotline (1-800-772-9100).
1980   NAF initiates annual Risk Management Seminars.
1990   NAF convenes first national symposium on provider shortage.
1993   NAF establishes Medical Students for Choice.
1995   NAF creates the Patient Partnership, which puts a human face on public policy debates.
1996   NAF publishes the country's first Clinical Policy Guidelines setting the standards for abortion care in North America.
1997   NAF founds Midwives for Choice, Nurse Practitioners for Choice, and Physician Assistants for Choice.
1998   NAF successfully advocates for the creation of Department of Justice's National Task Force on Violence Against Reproductive Health Care Providers.
1999   NAF develops the authoritative textbook, A Clinician's Guide to Medical and Surgical Abortion.
2000   NAF launches fully-accredited, national, continuing medical education programs on the use of mifepristone (RU-486).
2001   NAF works with the FBI to solve anthrax threat case, which results in the capture of domestic terrorist Clayton Lee Waagner.
2002   NAF launches an international medical education program to improve care women receive in developing countries.
2003   NAF completes first five-year cycle of member quality visits.
2004   NAF successfully challenges the federal abortion ban in National Abortion Federation et al. v. Ashcroft for its failure to protect a woman's health.
2005   NAF issues the second edition of its Clinical Training Curriculum in Abortion Practice, recognized as the standard for abortion training for medical students.
